Cathy Veale is renowned for her seascapes. Taking inspiration from the beautiful Dorset coastline and from being a keen sailor, her paintings depict a unique sense of texture, concentrating on the effects of light and colour of water; harmonising, sometimes exaggerating colour which she paints in a modern figurative style using watercolour.
Cathy studied Graphic Design at the Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design (1978-81) and after travelling extensively around Europe, America and New Zealand undertaking a variety of different artwork, she settled in Swanage in Dorset. She now paints full time and organises art exhibitions for aspiring young professional artists. She has had her work selected at the Royal West of England Academy, the National Laing exhibition and has regularly exhibited at the Mall Galleries in London with the Royal Society of Marine Artists and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, and at the ‘Affordable Art Fair’ in London.
